The Empowered Child

Photo of Wendy and Sue

Patti interviews Wendy Garrido and her mother, Sue Woodward.  Wendy is the
editor in chief and Sue is the managing editor of a new magazine, North
Star Family Matters.  The mission of the magazine is to inspire conscious
parenting and empowered kids.

Wendy Garrido's  interview:  Wendy reveals that she herself was an
empowered child and that her mother raised her to trust and make decisions
for herself, starting at a very young age.  She feels that most adult
problems or issues stem from a lack of empowerment during childhood.  This
realization inspired her to work with her mother to start their new
parenting magazine.

Sue Woodward's interview:  Sue reads, Atlanta Finds her Power, an original
children's story that is based on a real-life experience with Wendy.  In
the story, a mother takes her young daughter to various pre-schools and
lets her choose the one she wants to attend.  After the story, Sue
discusses the importance of empowering kids by trusting them to make
decisions for themselves.  She goes on to discuss how this will benefit
them as they become teenagers and young adults.

But Tess says, “...she has cancer but she’s acting like she can race with the wind. And she’s proved the doctor’s wrong for five years.” For more information on Beverlye’s experimental new treatment and her book, "I Can Do This: living with cancer, tracing a year of hope" visit her website at: www.BeverlyeHymanFead.com
